Our most recent CFACT event, a lecture by Dr. Fred Singer, was a huge success. The UT Objectivism Society’s main goal with all public events is first and foremost to get people thinking about their ideas. Austin is one of America’s “greenest” cities and is completely riddled with environmental propaganda. One finds it difficult to successfully dodge dozens of environmental petitions on campus- venture off university property and risk the inevitable approach of a Greenpeace representative.
Austin is in desperate need of pro-industrial energy types to discourage the counter-productive “green revolution,”
and encourage growth in the energy industry. Dr. Singer’s lecture did exactly that. With a surprisingly split audience, the upbeat and knowledgable Dr. Singer sparked an interest in attendees to further investigate the fallacies of global warming. While I don’t expect that we convinced anyone to switch their loyalties immediately, I am extremely optimistic that CFACT got the ball rolling in Austin; we hope to continue to join in this crusade alongside them for many events to come.
