Schools around the nation are resuming classes, and CFACT is already at working to engage students on campuses across the nation. This week was the Spring Activities Fair at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and the UMD CFACT chapter was excited to spread CFACT’s unique message to to new students. CFACT’s belief in the importance of the free market and personal responsibility in protecting the environment attracted many students to our table.
Many UMD students also appreciated CFACT’s pro-business approach to environmentalism, and were particularly interested in CFACT’s approach to energy and mining policy . We should not be afraid use the natural resources that are available to us, but we must be sure to use them wisely and responsibly. Here in the United States, mining is done safely, and a great deal of effort is put to make sure the environmental impact of a mine is as small as possible. In addition to benefiting the local economy, mining in the United States is better than mining in other countries that lack environmental safeguards.
At the end of the day the UMD CFACT chapter was able to share CFACT’s message with many students, and they are excited to continue protecting the environment in the coming semester.
