Summer may be cooling down, but CFACT’s fight for free speech on campus is just heating up. Dedicated Driessen Fellow Lucas LeJeune took to the University of Louisiana Lafayette’s campus sidewalks this week to encourage his fellow students to exercise their right to free speech.
Though primarily concerned with issues of conservation, energy, and environment, CFACT is an avid supporter of constitutional rights, including freedom of speech. We recognize, especially with the left-wing ideological capture of college academia, that it is imperative now more than ever that young Americans familiarize themselves with their rights and liberties. CFACT is always happy to facilitate free speech wherever and however we can.
Using a giant inflatable beach ball as his canvas that didn’t want to inflate at first, the undeterred freedom fighter spent over an hour inflating the ball in preparation. However, once inflated, the First Amendment demonstration got underway.
Attracting students in droves, Lucas garnered dozens of Sharpie signatories, writing everything from political slogans like “Trump 2024” and “Kamala 2024,” to college football-themed profanities, to sappier general statements of affection like “I love my wife!” The full spectrum of human thought and expression was on display.
Like his fellow students, Lucas was pleased with how the event turned out. “The event was a big success. It was great to see students of all walks of life come together to express their individuality and exercise their free speech. Even our administration was impressed, with one passing administrator remarking “this is such a great idea! I love this!””
With the success of his first event and the approval of both students and administrators alike, we are looking forward to seeing what else Lucas can accomplish in the name of freedom and scientific truth this semester in the Pelican State.
