UW Madison held it’s Earth Day event on April 27, 2009. This year’s theme was “Earth Day: A Different Way”. They wanted to show that their views were not the same as the other groups on campus, such as the socialist group’s event “SOCIALISM & THE ENVIRONMENT:How to Stop Capitalism from Killing the Planet”.
CFACT Madison pointed out the truth about Earth Day and handed out pamphlets and flyers with facts about the origins of Earth Day and what Earth Day was about. They offered common sense solutions to issues like recycling and personal consumption.
Booths were set up all around Library Mall. A taste test was available for students to see how they could save money by buying generic brands. Students could also “Battle for the truth about the Environment” in the inflatable boxing ring!
